My Opinion: BCS is Busted

Its a decade old argument but come on -is the BCS really that effective? With 25 teams that have different records, schedules and players, how could this system be fair? An example- last season TCU finished with a record of 11-1 but finished 15th in the final rankings. I understand TCU isn't really a powerhouse and their schedule wasn't that challenging but, Notre Dame finished with a record of 8-3 and finished 6th. Another example would be if there were several losses in the top 5 and Ohio State and Michigan wound up playing each other in the championship and Michigan won, would it be fair to OSU after they already beat Michigan in the regular season. Bottom line- the BCS is an opinion poll. If you like Penn State, you will vote for Penn State; that's the way it works. Many critics have answers to this very challenging college football problem but, the only effective answer is to have a playoff. Take the top 4 teams in the nation, have no.1 and no.4 and no. 2 and no.3 play each other, take the two winners of those games and have them play in the title game. This current system is very complicated with 5 separate bowls but instead of making things easier, the BCS officials just want to claim their paycheck.
